Recycle Depot, the public recycling network of the Circular CRV Association, is proud to announce its expansion into the Sacramento region as part of its broader mission to modernize California’s recycling infrastructure and restore easy access to beverage container redemption for communities across the state.
California’s CRV program was designed to encourage recycling by placing a refundable deposit on eligible beverage containers. However, redeeming those deposits has become increasingly difficult as recycling infrastructure has declined statewide. Recycle Depot’s Sacramento expansion is part of a larger effort to rebuild redemption access in a way that better serves modern California communities.
“Consumers are paying CRV deposits with every eligible beverage purchase, but far too many people are struggling to get that money back,” said Recycle Depot Executive Director Brian Phillips. “We believe recycling should be simple, convenient, and accessible. Sacramento is an important next step in building a statewide network that works for everyday Californians again.”
The organization’s mission is centered on connecting retailers, recyclers, and the public to deliver sustainable and accessible CRV redemption solutions throughout California. Planned Sacramento-area locations will focus on convenience, accessibility, and community integration by operating near grocery stores and community shopping areas.
Future locations and services include convenient drop-off locations that simplify the redemption process, self-service redemption options for faster transactions, and mobile collection opportunities that expand access in underserved communities, all of which are offered in clean and professionally maintained collection environments.
Recycle Depot aims to create a cleaner and more efficient recycling experience that encourages participation while helping reduce litter and landfill waste. The expansion is also expected to support California’s broader sustainability goals by strengthening the state’s circular economy and increasing the recovery of recyclable materials.
“Our mission is larger than simply opening recycling centers,” said Phillips. “We are helping rebuild trust in California’s redemption system and creating solutions that support cleaner communities, stronger local economies, and a more sustainable future.”
